Windar Renovables, a leading manufacturer in the renewable energy sector, has initiated construction of a new offshore wind turbine tower factory in Szczecin, Poland, with a cornerstone-laying ceremony. The facility, set to begin operations in 2026, is expected to create 450 direct jobs and support both Poland’s domestic wind energy market and global demand for offshore wind infrastructure.
Located at Szczecin’s port, the factory will specialize in producing large-scale steel tubular towers for offshore wind turbines. These towers are essential for supporting wind energy projects, contributing to the growth of renewable energy infrastructure in Poland and worldwide. The plant, spanning over 47,000 square meters, will feature four production lines and a warehouse for raw materials, ensuring efficient manufacturing and supply chain operations.
“This offshore manufacturing facility in Poland highlights a clear mission: with stable, long-term policy support, Europe can significantly increase investment in wind energy and create green employment opportunities,” said Pelayo Berjano, Managing Director of Windar Polska. The project aligns with efforts to advance sustainable energy solutions and bolster economic development through job creation.
The factory’s development is supported by a 30-year land lease at Szczecin’s port, providing a long-term foundation for operations. Windar Renovables, backed by investment partner Bridgepoint since 2023, received final approval for the facility in January 2024. Construction is being led by PORR, a prominent contractor, ensuring the project meets high industry standards.
“The investment in Szczecin strengthens Poland’s renewable energy sector and supports the global transition to clean energy,” said a Windar Renovables representative. “This facility will enhance our capacity to deliver high-quality wind turbine towers to meet growing market needs.”
The Szczecin plant is poised to play a significant role in Poland’s renewable energy infrastructure, particularly in the offshore wind sector. By producing essential components for wind turbines, the factory will contribute to the country’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity and support sustainable economic growth. The project also positions Windar Renovables as a key player in the global wind energy market.
With its strategic location and advanced production capabilities, the new facility underscores Windar Renovables’ commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the renewable energy industry. The project is expected to enhance Poland’s role as a hub for offshore wind manufacturing while fostering long-term economic and environmental benefits.
